Who might be able to join this trial:
- You are 18 years old or older, have some form of paralysis, and live in the community (not in a hospital or care facility)
- Your paralysis was caused by an injury or accident, or by a condition such as spinal cord injury, head injury, stroke, multiple sclerosis, transverse myelitis, polio, nerve disease, Parkinson's disease, ALS, botulism, or Guillain-Barré syndrome — and this happened after you were a child
- Your spinal cord injury was not caused by a traumatic event but instead by something like arthritis, cancer, inflammation, infection, or spinal disc problems
- You are a caregiver for someone living with ALS (also known as Lou Gehrig's disease)
- You are able to communicate either by speaking or by writing
Who may not be able to join:
- You have known patterns of harmful behavior, or you are currently experiencing symptoms such as hallucinations, delusions, or serious difficulties with thinking and perception
- Your paralysis or condition has been present since birth or from early childhood — for example, spina bifida or cerebral palsy
