Who might be able to join this trial:
- People who have been diagnosed with muscle-invasive bladder cancer (a cancer that has grown into the muscle wall of the bladder), confirmed by a tissue sample from a surgical procedure or by scans showing the cancer has reached a certain stage
- People whose bladder cancer has been staged using chest and abdomen/pelvis scans, showing the cancer is at a certain level of spread within or near the bladder but has not spread to distant parts of the body
- People aged 18 years or older
- People who are in reasonably good general health, as measured by a standard medical scale (confirm with trial site)
- People who are willing to have a specialised full-body scan called an 18F-FDG-PET-CT scan
- People who are willing to receive either a targeted radiation treatment (for limited spread of disease) or immunotherapy (for more widespread disease), depending on what the PET-CT scan finds
- People who are willing and able to give signed agreement to participate, following standard research guidelines
Who may not be able to join:
- People whose scans have already shown that the cancer has spread to distant parts of the body
- People who are unwilling or unable to have an 18F-FDG-PET-CT scan, or who have a medical reason preventing them from having one
- People who are unwilling to receive the targeted radiation treatment or immunotherapy that may be recommended based on scan results
- People who have had previous radiotherapy in a way that would prevent the targeted radiation treatment from being used (confirm with trial site)
- People who have a medical reason that prevents them from safely receiving radiotherapy, including those with active inflammatory bowel disease
- People who have a medical reason that prevents them from safely receiving immunotherapy
- People who have been diagnosed with another type of cancer within the last 5 years that still requires treatment — with the exception of a non-spreading prostate cancer diagnosed at the same time as the bladder cancer, or a type of non-melanoma skin cancer
