Who might be able to join this trial:
- You are 18 years of age or older
- You are generally able to carry out normal daily activities (your doctor has assessed your overall health and function as being at a reasonable level)
- You have been newly diagnosed with a single tumor lesion in the brain (either in the main part of the brain or the cerebellum) that shows up on a specific type of MRI scan and can be completely surgically removed, and is not attached to the brain's outer covering
- A tissue sample taken during surgery confirms that the brain lesion is a cancer that has spread from somewhere else in the body (not originally from the brain)
- The tumor is a safe enough distance from sensitive structures such as the optic nerves, the point where the optic nerves cross, and the brainstem
- You are using adequate birth control (if applicable)
Who may not be able to join:
- The cancer has spread to the membranes surrounding the brain or spinal cord, or the tumor is attached to the brain's outer covering
- The tissue sample taken during surgery shows the tumor is a primary brain tumor, a lymphoma, small-cell lung cancer, or a type of tumor called a germinoma
- You have more than one brain tumor
- You have a psychiatric or social situation that may make it difficult to follow the trial requirements
- You have a medical reason why you cannot have anesthesia, surgery, MRI scans, or contrast dye injections
- You are currently pregnant or breastfeeding
