  • People for whom the planned surgical procedure would not be technically possible, based on the surgeon's assessment
  • People who have conditions affecting the digestive system, such as inflammatory bowel disease, coeliac disease, irritable bowel syndrome, or other causes of ongoing diarrhoea
  • People with a serious ongoing illness, such as cancer or a neurodegenerative condition (a condition affecting the brain or nervous system over time)
  • People who are pregnant
  • People who are unwilling to attend follow-up appointments or unwilling to undergo surgery
  • People who are unable to read, understand, or complete written questionnaires
