Who might be able to join this trial:
- People who appear generally healthy and do not have obvious heart, lung, or metabolic conditions (such as diabetes)
- For the PTSD group: people who score 33 or higher on a standard PTSD symptom checklist called the PCL-5
- For the anxiety (GAD) group: people who score 10 or higher on a standard anxiety questionnaire called the GAD-7, and below 33 on the PCL-5 checklist
- For the Healthy Control group: people who score 10 or below on the GAD-7 anxiety questionnaire and below 33 on the PCL-5 checklist
Who may not be able to join:
- People who are taking medications that could affect how the heart or blood vessels work
- People who currently smoke or have recently quit smoking
- People who use illicit drugs or drink alcohol excessively
- People who are pregnant
- People who are on a significant calorie-restricted diet or who have known vitamin or mineral deficiencies
- People who have limited ability to read or communicate in English
