Who might be able to join this trial:

• You have been diagnosed with a specific type of lung cancer called non-squamous non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) that has spread to nearby lymph nodes (called N2), confirmed by a lab test on a tissue or cell sample.
• Your cancer is at a stage where surgery to fully remove it is considered possible (Stage IIIA or a specific form of Stage IIIB), as agreed by a specialist medical team including a chest surgeon.
• You are generally able to carry out daily activities with little to no limitation (a medical fitness score of 0 or 1), and your condition has been stable for at least the 2 weeks before starting the trial.
• Your tumour has one of two specific genetic changes (called EGFR mutations — Ex19del or L858R) that make it likely to respond to a certain type of targeted treatment, either on their own or alongside other related genetic changes.

Who may not be able to join:

• You have a history of serious lung inflammation (scarring or swelling of the lung tissue), whether caused by a previous illness, a drug reaction, or radiation treatment that needed steroid medication, or you currently show signs of active lung inflammation.
• You have had another type of cancer in the past, unless it was fully treated at least 2 years ago with no signs of it returning, or it was a minor skin cancer or an early-stage non-spreading cancer that has been fully treated with no current evidence of disease.
• Your treatment plan includes radiotherapy before surgery.
• Your lung cancer is a mixed type involving both small cell and non-small cell lung cancer.
• Your tumour has grown into major structures in the chest such as the aorta (main heart artery), the oesophagus (food pipe), or the heart; or your lymph node involvement is too large or widespread to be removed surgically.
• Surgery planned for you involves only a small removal of lung tissue (called a segmentectomy or wedge resection) rather than a larger portion of the lung.
• You have previously received any cancer treatment for your lung cancer, including chemotherapy, immunotherapy, targeted therapy, or any experimental drug.
• You have previously been treated with a type of targeted drug called an EGFR-TKI (a medication that targets the EGFR mutation in your cancer).
• You are currently taking, or cannot stop taking before the trial begins, certain medications or herbal supplements that are known to strongly interfere with how the body processes this treatment (confirm with trial site).
