- Adults over 18 years old who have been recommended for surgery due to a thyroid nodule that has been classified at a certain risk level (Bethesda category IV, V, or VI)
- People who can read and understand the Swedish language

Who may not be able to join:
- People who have previously been diagnosed with hypothyroidism (an underactive thyroid), including autoimmune forms of the condition
- People who have previously been diagnosed with cancer (except for a type of skin cancer called basal cell cancer)
- People whose reason for surgery involves anything other than a thyroid nodule alone — for example, those who also have a condition called Graves' disease
- People who have been diagnosed with medullary or anaplastic thyroid cancer (specific types of thyroid cancer)
