- Your thyroid biopsy (fine needle aspiration) result falls into one of these categories: Bethesda III, IV, V, or VI (meaning the result was uncertain, suspicious, or showed abnormal cells) — if your result turns out to be non-cancerous after surgery, your data and samples may still be kept for future research.
- You are 18 years of age or older.
- Your doctor has determined that you are a suitable candidate for surgery.
