Who might be able to join this trial:

  • You are a Veteran living in the community (not in a care facility) and are 18 years of age or older
  • You have received care from the VA Greater Los Angeles Healthcare System (VAGLAHS) within the past year
  • You live within 50 miles of the VA Sepulveda Ambulatory Care Center
  • You are currently experiencing symptoms of PTSD
  • You are currently experiencing symptoms of insomnia (trouble sleeping)

Who may not be able to join:

  • You are currently pregnant, or you have a baby under 6 months old (this applies to both men and women)
  • You are currently using substances, or you are in recovery but have been sober for fewer than 90 days
  • You are too unwell to take part in the study activities
  • You are not able to give your own consent to participate in the study
  • Your housing situation is currently unstable
  • You have severe, untreated sleep-disordered breathing (such as sleep apnea above a certain level of severity with excessive daytime sleepiness) (confirm with trial site)
  • You have restless legs syndrome that is the main cause of your sleep problems
  • You have a sleep disorder related to your body clock or sleep schedule — such as shift work sleep disorder — that explains your sleep problems
  • You have unstable medical or mental health conditions
  • Your insomnia symptoms have already gone away before the study begins
  • You are currently taking part in a specific type of therapy for PTSD called Prolonged Exposure Therapy
