Who might be able to join this trial:
- People aged 18 years or older
- People who have brain metastases (cancer that has spread to the brain) that are believed to have come from a cancer in another part of the body, such as the lung, breast, or prostate
- People whose brain metastases include at least one untreated tumour (not previously treated with focused radiation) that measures between 2.0 cm and 4.0 cm at its widest point, as seen on a contrast MRI scan taken within the past 28 days
- People who are able to have a contrast-enhanced MRI scan of the brain
- Women who could become pregnant must have a negative pregnancy test taken within 7 days before joining the trial
- People who are willing and able to sign a consent form, or who have a legally authorised representative who can provide consent on their behalf
- People with a general health and functioning level that meets the trial's minimum performance score requirements (confirm specific scores with the trial site)
- People who have previously had focused radiation (radiosurgery) or surgery on brain metastases may still be eligible, as long as there is no clear sign that cancer has returned in those treated areas — however, repeat focused radiation to the exact same spot is not permitted under this trial
Who may not be able to join:
- People who have previously received whole-brain radiation therapy
- People who have a brain metastasis located in the brainstem that measures 2.0 cm or larger at its widest point
- People who have a confirmed diagnosis of leptomeningeal disease (cancer that has spread to the fluid and membranes surrounding the brain and spinal cord), based on test results, imaging, or clinical signs
- People who have an untreated brain metastasis that is larger than 4.0 cm at its widest point
