Who might be able to join this trial:
- People aged over 16 who have been diagnosed with, or are suspected to have, a solid cancer (a tumour that forms in an organ or tissue, not blood) and who are scheduled to have surgery, a biopsy, a fluid sample taken, or a procedure to remove bladder tumour tissue (TURBT)
- People who are willing to donate a small piece of fresh tumour tissue collected during their procedure that is not needed for diagnostic testing
- People who are willing to donate a 9ml blood sample (roughly two teaspoons)
- People who are able to read and sign a consent form agreeing to take part
- People whose cancer has come back after previous treatment, either in the same area or in another part of the body
- People whose cancer did not respond to previous treatment and has continued to grow
- People who have received treatment given before their main surgery or procedure (called neoadjuvant therapy)
- People who have previously received chemotherapy, targeted therapy, immunotherapy, hormone therapy, or radiotherapy for their cancer
Who may not be able to join:
- People who have a known diagnosis of a blood-borne virus, including Hepatitis B, Hepatitis C, or HIV, as the research laboratories are not equipped with the safety facilities needed to handle samples containing these viruses
- People who currently have an active COVID-19 infection
