Who might be able to join this trial:
This trial has four separate groups. People may be considered for one of the following groups:
Group 1 – People with chronic kidney disease on hemodialysis:
- Adults aged 18 or older who have chronic kidney disease (long-term kidney disease) and are currently receiving hemodialysis (a machine-based kidney treatment)
Group 2 – People with chronic kidney disease not on dialysis:
- Adults aged 18 or older who have chronic kidney disease with a specific level of reduced kidney function (measured by a test called eGFR, with results ranging from below 15 to 44), and who are not currently on any form of dialysis
Group 3 – People with chronic kidney disease on peritoneal dialysis:
- Adults aged 18 or older who have chronic kidney disease and are currently receiving peritoneal dialysis (a different type of kidney treatment done through the abdomen)
Group 4 – Healthy volunteers:
- Adults aged 18 or older who are registered blood donors
Who may not be able to join:
- People whose kidney disease is acute (meaning sudden or short-term) rather than long-term
- People in Group 2 who are currently on hemodialysis or peritoneal dialysis
