Who might be able to join this trial:

For Veterans:

• People who have a current diagnosis of PTSD based on DSM-5 criteria
• People who have served in the military (Veteran status)
• People who are willing to have a family member involved in the study
• People who have recently started, or are in the early stages of, an individual therapy program called CPT or PE, and have completed no more than 3 sessions at the time of joining the study
• People taking psychiatric medications must have been on a stable dose for at least 30 days before joining

For family members:

• People aged 18 or older who are a family member of the Veteran (such as a partner, parent, adult child, or sibling)
• People who are currently in regular contact with the Veteran — meaning three or more times per week

Who may not be able to join:

For Veterans:

• People who are currently receiving couples or family therapy with the same family member who would be participating in this study
• People with a current severe substance use disorder (mild or moderate substance use disorders are not excluded, and any level of nicotine or caffeine use is accepted)
• People who currently have psychosis or an unstable bipolar disorder diagnosis
• People who are currently at high risk for suicide
• People with significant difficulties with memory, thinking, or cognition

For family members:

• The same exclusion criteria listed above for Veterans also apply to family members
• Family members who currently meet the criteria for a PTSD diagnosis are not permitted to participate
