- You have a body mass index (BMI) of 40 or higher, or a BMI of 35 or higher with other weight-related health conditions, and have been assessed as suitable for weight-loss surgery under French health guidelines

- You are an adult who is under a legal protection order, or your personal freedom is currently restricted by law
- You have any medical reason that prevents you from having an fMRI brain scan (confirm with trial site)
- A specific brain monitoring procedure called fNIRS cannot be carried out on you due to issues with how light passes through your scalp (confirm with trial site)
