Who might be able to join this trial:
If you have psoriasis (skin condition only):
- You are 18 years of age or older
- You are willing to sign a consent form agreeing to take part
- You have had psoriasis for at least 5 years
- You have at least one skin patch/lesion larger than 2 cm
- You have no joint pain or joint-related symptoms
- You are not currently taking medicines that suppress the immune system (DMARDs)
- You are not taking blood thinners and do not have a blood clotting condition
- Your joint and tendon ultrasound results appear normal
If you have psoriatic arthritis (psoriasis affecting the joints):
- You are 18 years of age or older
- You are willing to sign a consent form agreeing to take part
- You have been diagnosed with psoriatic arthritis based on recognised medical criteria (confirm with trial site)
- You are not currently taking medicines that suppress the immune system (DMARDs)
- You are not taking blood thinners and do not have a blood clotting condition
- You have at least one swollen/inflamed joint at the time of joining the trial
If you are a healthy volunteer (control group):
- You are a similar age and sex to one of the patients in the trial, with no rheumatic or skin conditions
- You are not taking steroid medications or anti-inflammatory painkillers (such as ibuprofen)
- You are 18 years of age or older
Who may not be able to join:
If you have psoriasis:
- You show signs of joint damage consistent with psoriatic arthritis (confirm with trial site)
- Your ultrasound scan suggests signs of chronic inflammatory joint disease
For all patients and healthy volunteers:
- You do not have health insurance or social healthcare coverage
- You are under legal guardianship or court protection
- You are under 18 years old
- You are currently pregnant
- You are currently breastfeeding
- You are currently in prison or detained
