Who might be able to join this trial:
- People who have squamous cell carcinoma (a type of cancer) of the head and neck that has come back after previous treatment, cannot be treated with local therapies, and/or has spread to other parts of the body
- People whose tumour can be directly examined by a doctor (such as cancers of the mouth or throat) and/or have swollen lymph nodes in the neck that can be seen on ultrasound, allowing a tissue sample to be taken under local anaesthetic
- People whose cancer is considered suitable for treatment with anti-PD1 immunotherapy (a type of cancer drug that works with the immune system) according to French health authority recommendations
- People with a performance status of 0, 1, or 2, meaning they are able to carry out at least some daily activities (confirm with trial site)
- People who have at least one tumour that can be measured using standard imaging criteria known as RECIST v1.1 (confirm with trial site)
Who may not be able to join:
- People whose head and neck squamous cell carcinoma could still be treated with a local treatment
- People whose cancer is located in the nasopharynx, sinuses, or nasal cavity
- People whose cancer is not of the squamous cell (epidermoid) type
- People who have a medical reason why anti-PD1 immunotherapy would not be safe for them
