Who might be able to join this trial:

For patients:

  • People diagnosed with intermediate-risk acute myeloid leukemia (a type of blood cancer) for the first time, where the disease is in complete remission at the molecular level (meaning no detectable cancer cells using sensitive tests)
  • People diagnosed with high-risk acute myeloid leukemia for the first time, where the disease is in complete remission at the molecular level, and who are waiting for a stem cell transplant from an unrelated donor

  • People who have given written agreement to take part in the trial

For donors (the family member donating cells):

  • A donor who meets standard medical guidelines for donating cells through an apheresis procedure (a process of collecting specific cells from the blood)
  • A donor who has given written agreement to take part

Who may not be able to join:

For patients:

  • People who have an active infection that is not under control
  • People with serious liver problems, where certain liver enzyme levels in the blood are five times or more above the normal range for their age
  • People who test positive for HIV

For donors:

  • People who are pregnant
  • People who test positive for HIV, hepatitis B, or hepatitis C
