Who might be able to join this trial:
- Children and young people between 3 and 21 years old at the time of consent who have been newly diagnosed with a type of blood cancer called ALL (either B-cell, T-cell, or mixed type), confirmed by laboratory testing
- Children and young people between 3 and 21 years old at the time of consent who have been newly diagnosed with certain types of brain tumors considered "favorable biology," such as low-grade gliomas, medulloblastoma, ependymoma, pituitary tumors, or germ cell tumors, confirmed by scans, lab results, or tissue testing
- Participants who are being treated as part of a clinical trial, or whose treatment follows a clinical trial approach
- ALL patients who will receive standard leukemia treatment
- Brain tumor patients who will be treated with surgery, chemotherapy, radiation, or a combination — including those receiving a stem cell transplant using their own stem cells (autologous transplant)
- Patients receiving treatment at one of the participating hospitals or clinics
- For ALL: families where a parent or guardian provides consent within three working days of diagnosis
- For brain tumors: families where a parent or guardian provides consent before chemotherapy, radiation, or stem cell transplant begins
Who may not be able to join:
- Patients whose cancer has come back or gotten worse (except for patients with low-grade gliomas that cannot be surgically removed and have progressed)
- Patients who have had a different type of cancer in the past
- Patients with other health conditions unrelated to their cancer that may affect nutrition, growth, or gut bacteria — for example, Down syndrome, metabolic disorders, or coeliac disease
- Patients with a genetic condition that may affect nutrition or growth
- ALL patients who are planned to receive a stem cell transplant using donor cells (hematopoietic stem cell transplant)
- Patients with a mixed-lineage leukemia who are being treated with a treatment plan designed for a different type of blood cancer called AML
- Brain tumor patients who will only be monitored or have surgery with no other treatment
- Brain tumor patients diagnosed with ATRT (a rare aggressive brain tumor) or high-grade gliomas

Primary endpoints
Evaluate the association of dietary and lifestyle variables to examine the association of nutritional status and dietary intake with side-effects from treatment and survival in children and adolescents with ALL and favorable biology brain tumors.
