Who might be able to join this trial:

• Veterans who served in the Iraq or Afghanistan wars (OIF, OEF, or OND) and have been diagnosed with both a mild traumatic brain injury (mTBI) and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), based on Veterans' Affairs and Department of Defense guidelines.
• People whose most recent mild traumatic brain injury happened at least 6 months before joining the study.
• People who show a specific level of attention difficulty, as measured by a standard memory and thinking test called the RBANS (scores falling 1.5 standard deviations below average on the attention section).
• People who have a family member or friend willing to fill out a questionnaire as part of the study.
• People who have access to a home computer or a smartphone with internet access.

Who may not be able to join:

• People with a history of a learning disability that existed before their brain injury.
• People who have a history of a psychiatric condition serious enough to have required a stay in a hospital.
• People who have a neurological condition unrelated to their brain injury, such as epilepsy or stroke.
• People who score below 90 on a standard reading test called the National Adult Reading Test (NART).
• People who do not pass a memory validity test called the Test of Memory Malingering (TOMM).
• People who have reported alcohol or drug misuse within the past year.
• People currently involved in a legal case related to their injury.
• People who have recently had a change in medication for seizures, depression, or memory problems (confirm with trial site for exact timeframe).
• People currently taking part in another cognitive (thinking skills) therapy program that cannot be stopped.
• People who do not speak English fluently.
• People who are not able to give informed consent, or who cannot demonstrate an understanding of what the study involves and its potential risks.
• People with an uncontrolled, serious medical or psychiatric condition — such as active thoughts of harming themselves or others, active psychosis, or symptoms needing immediate medical care — that the trial team determines would make participation unsafe.
