Who might be able to join this trial:
Study 1:
- Adults between 18 and 65 years old (male or female)
- People who have been diagnosed with PTSD or a milder form of PTSD (sometimes called subthreshold PTSD), assessed using a standard interview tool
- People currently taking psychiatric medication, provided the dose has been stable for at least 4 weeks
- People who own a smartphone and are able to use the Now Meditation App without difficulty
- People who score 12 or more on a standard sleep difficulty questionnaire (the Insomnia Severity Index), where the sleep problems began after the PTSD diagnosis
Study 2:
- Adults between 18 and 65 years old (male or female)
- People diagnosed with PTSD or a milder form of PTSD, who experience flashbacks or unwanted memories, plus symptoms from at least 2 of the following areas: avoidance, negative thoughts/feelings, or being constantly on edge
- People currently taking psychiatric medication, provided the dose has been stable for at least 4 weeks
- People who are able to read and write in the language required for the study guidelines
Who may not be able to join:
Study 1 & Study 2:
- People who have been diagnosed with bipolar disorder or a psychotic disorder
- People who are currently dependent on alcohol or other substances
- People with a moderate or severe brain injury that makes it difficult to understand screening questions
- People assessed as having serious thoughts of suicide (assessed using standard clinical tools)
- People whose symptoms from another mental health condition are considered more significant than their PTSD (Study 1 only)
- People who are currently receiving talking therapy specifically for PTSD
