Who might be able to join this trial:
- Young people between 9 and 19 years old
- Young people who have been diagnosed with Bipolar Disorder (Type I, Type II, or Other Specified) or Cyclothymic Disorder by the study team during a screening interview
- Young people who can read and communicate in English well enough to take part in treatment and assessments designed for ages 9 and up (with help as needed)
- Young people who have a caregiver able to regularly take part in assessments and treatment sessions
- A participating caregiver who can read and communicate in English for the purposes of consenting, assessments, and treatment — unless translation services in another language are regularly available through the trial
Who may not be able to join:
- Young people who have a diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder
- Young people who have a diagnosis of substance or alcohol abuse that has caused significant problems within the past 3 months
- Young people who have a medical or psychiatric condition that is life-threatening or requires immediate hospitalisation or emergency treatment
- Cases where there is recent evidence of sexual or physical abuse of the young person by a caregiver who is legally responsible for them
- Cases where there is recent evidence of violence between the caregivers who are responsible for the young person's care
