Who might be able to join this trial:
- People who have been diagnosed with both type 2 diabetes and a liver condition called NAFLD (a build-up of fat in the liver not caused by alcohol)
- People aged between 18 and 75 years old
- People with a body mass index (BMI) between 18.0 and 35.0
- People whose weight has been stable (changing by less than 4 kg) for at least 3 months before the study
- People who have been on a stable diabetes medication plan (1 to 3 oral diabetes tablets, with or without insulin) for at least 3 months, or people who have not yet started any diabetes medication
- People who are able to provide written consent to participate
Who may not be able to join:
- People who have a known food allergy
- People who have consumed alcohol above recommended limits in the past 3 months (more than 20 g per day for women or more than 40 g per day for men)
- People who have other liver conditions, such as hepatitis B or C, autoimmune hepatitis, primary biliary cirrhosis, hemochromatosis, or certain liver growths (confirm with trial site)
- People who are scheduled to have surgery during the screening period
- People who are pregnant or planning to become pregnant during the study
- People who are unable, physically or mentally, to follow the steps required by the study
- People who have had at least 3 serious low blood sugar episodes (requiring outside help) in the 90 days before screening
- People who have been hospitalised or visited an emergency department due to very high blood sugar, diabetic ketoacidosis, or related serious diabetes complications
- People who have had a cancer diagnosis within the past 5 years
- People who have had a heart attack or stroke in the past 90 days, or who have heart failure
- People who have had a bleeding or blockage-related stroke in the past 6 months
