Who might be able to join this trial:
- People who have been diagnosed with bladder cancer confirmed by a tissue sample (biopsy)
- People whose cancer has grown into the muscle wall of the bladder (a stage known as pT2 or higher)
- People whose scans (CT or MRI) show no cancer spread to the lymph nodes in the pelvis
- People who wish to keep their bladder rather than have it removed as part of their treatment
- People aged 20 years or older
- People who are generally well and able to carry out daily activities, based on a standard health assessment done within one week before joining the study
- People who have signed an informed consent form, either themselves or through a guardian
- People whose blood test results show their body can handle receiving chemotherapy and radiation therapy together
Who may not be able to join:
- People who have previously had radiation therapy to the pelvic area
- People who are pregnant or currently breastfeeding
- People whose cancer has spread to other parts of the body beyond the pelvis
- People whose bladder cancer is so widespread that doctors consider it too difficult to safely preserve the bladder
- People who have had another type of cancer within the last 5 years, unless it was thyroid cancer, a common type of skin cancer (non-melanoma), a very early-stage prostate cancer (T1a), or early cervical cancer confined to the surface layer
- People who have a serious untreated illness at the time of the study
- People with connective tissue diseases (such as lupus or scleroderma) that may make radiation treatment risky (confirm with trial site)
