Who might be able to join this trial:
- People who have given written informed consent and, in the investigator's judgment, are able to follow the study procedures
- People who have been diagnosed with non-small cell lung cancer (a type of lung cancer) and have developed lung inflammation as a complication of radiotherapy or immunotherapy, and have not yet received steroids or other medicines for this complication
- People aged 18 years or older and under 75 years old
- People with a physical performance score of 0–3 on a standard scale used by doctors to measure how well a cancer patient is able to carry out daily activities (confirm with trial site)
- People who do not have any medical reason that would prevent them from safely undergoing a lung washout procedure (a procedure that flushes fluid through the airways to collect samples)
Who may not be able to join:
- People who are unlikely to follow the study rules or comply with trial requirements
- People who have significant liver or kidney problems, or serious heart conditions such as a recent heart attack, chest pain due to heart disease, or significantly elevated liver enzyme levels
- People who have needed treatment with steroids or other immune-suppressing medicines in the 14 days before enrolling
- People who had a serious infection in the 4 weeks before enrolling, including infections serious enough to require hospitalisation, a bloodstream infection, or severe pneumonia
- People who have needed antibiotic treatment (taken by mouth or through a drip) for a serious ongoing or active infection, including tuberculosis, in the 14 days before enrolling
- People with untreated chronic hepatitis B, hepatitis B carriers with a high level of the virus in their blood (HBV DNA at or above 500 IU/mL), or people with currently active hepatitis C infection — note that people with inactive or well-controlled hepatitis B or cured hepatitis C may still be eligible (confirm with trial site)
- People with a known history of HIV infection
- People who have taken part in another clinical trial or received another experimental medicine within the 28 days before enrolling
