Who might be able to join this trial:

  • People who have had a traumatic spinal cord injury
  • People who are at least 1 year past the date of their injury
  • People who are 20 years of age or older
  • People with a BMI greater than 22 kg/m² at the time of enrollment

Who may not be able to join:

  • People who have an unstable or serious medical condition, such as uncontrolled high blood pressure, pneumonia, or a severe pressure injury
  • People who are currently pregnant
  • People who have another medical condition that requires a strict specialized diet, such as kidney failure or diabetes
  • People who are currently taking part in a diet program (such as Jenny Craig or Weight Watchers), or who have participated in one within the past 6 months
  • People who have a current or past diagnosis of an eating disorder, such as anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa, or binge eating disorder
  • People who receive nutrition through a feeding tube
  • People who do not have a regular primary care doctor
  • People whose HbA1c blood sugar level is above 7% (confirm with trial site for further details on this measure)
  • People who are currently in the custody of law enforcement
