Who might be able to join this trial:

• You have been diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia (AML) that has come back or has not responded to treatment.
• Your AML did not respond to, or came back after, at least one round of intensive chemotherapy (a standard drug combination) or at least four cycles of a specific type of lower-intensity treatment called hypomethylating agents.
• You are 18 years of age or older.
• You are reasonably active and able to care for yourself — not severely limited by illness (confirm with trial site).
• You have not previously been treated with both venetoclax (ABT-199) and a drug called PA together; some prior use of venetoclax may be acceptable, but this needs to be discussed with the trial team directly.

Who may not be able to join:

• You are currently taking part in another clinical trial that involves a treatment intervention.
• You have, or have a known history of, cancer that has spread to the brain or spinal cord.
• You have or have had another type of cancer, with some exceptions — such as certain skin cancers, early-stage cervical cancer, or a cancer that has been fully treated and in remission for more than 5 years.
• You currently have an active HIV, hepatitis B, or hepatitis C infection.
• You have recently taken other cancer-fighting medications within a certain time window before your initial assessment (confirm exact timing with trial site).
• You need to take certain long-term medications that are known to interfere with how venetoclax is processed by the body, and there is no suitable alternative medication available.
• You have a known allergy to venetoclax or any of its ingredients.
• You are currently pregnant or breastfeeding.
• You have an active infection that is not under control.
