Who might be able to join this trial:
- Veterans aged between 18 and 75 who have been diagnosed with PTSD (post-traumatic stress disorder) according to standard diagnostic guidelines (DSM-5)
Who may not be able to join:
- People with a history of mild traumatic brain injury (a type of head injury), based on Veterans Affairs criteria
- People with a moderate or severe traumatic brain injury
- People who test positive for pregnancy
- People with a history of meningitis (an infection affecting the brain and spinal cord) or another neurological (brain or nervous system) condition
- People who have had an alcohol or drug use disorder within the past 12 months, based on standard diagnostic guidelines (DSM-5)
- People with a current or past diagnosis of schizophrenia, schizoaffective disorder, bipolar I disorder, anorexia nervosa, or bulimia, based on standard diagnostic guidelines (DSM-5)
- People who are currently experiencing thoughts of suicide with a specific plan
- People with a serious medical or neurological illness — such as heart, digestive, liver, kidney, or other significant health conditions — where the trial's lead doctor has determined that participation would not be safe
- People who are currently being treated with opioid medications or benzodiazepines (a type of sedative or anti-anxiety medication)
- People who have previously had a brain scan (MRI or CT) that showed a structural abnormality in the brain
