Who might be able to join this trial:
For the Bladder Cancer (Urothelial Carcinoma) group:
- You have been diagnosed with bladder or urinary tract cancer that has spread beyond the pelvis to areas such as the lungs, liver, bones, or other tissues, confirmed by a tissue biopsy
- You have at least one area of cancer that can be seen and measured on a special type of scan called a PET/CT scan, identified as suspicious by a specialist doctor at MSKCC
- You are well enough to carry out some daily activities (a doctor will assess your general health using a standard scale)
- You are 18 years of age or older
- You are able to understand and are willing to sign a consent form agreeing to take part
For the Melanoma group:
- You have been diagnosed with melanoma (a type of skin cancer) that has spread to other parts of the body, confirmed by a tissue biopsy
- You have at least one area of cancer that can be seen and measured on a CT or PET/CT scan, identified as suspicious by a specialist doctor at MSKCC
- You are well enough to carry out some daily activities (a doctor will assess your general health using a standard scale)
- You are 18 years of age or older
- You are able to understand and are willing to sign a consent form agreeing to take part
Who may not be able to join:
For the Bladder Cancer (Urothelial Carcinoma) group:
- Your cancer has only spread to lymph nodes within the pelvis, with no spread outside that area
- Your cancer has only spread to the bones, with no other areas affected
- You are unable to lie flat and stay still long enough to complete a PET scan
- You are currently being treated for a different type of cancer (except certain minor skin cancers that have not spread)
- You are already taking part in another treatment trial where having a PSMA imaging scan could affect that trial's results
- You are being monitored (but not treated) for a different cancer you have been diagnosed with previously
- You are pregnant, or if you could become pregnant, you do not have a recent negative pregnancy test on record
For the Melanoma group:
- You are unable to lie flat and stay still long enough to complete a PET scan
- You are already taking part in another treatment trial where having a PSMA imaging scan could affect that trial's results
- You are pregnant, or if you could become pregnant, you do not have a recent negative pregnancy test on record
