Who might be able to join this trial:

  • The child must be between 7 and 17 years old and have been diagnosed with OCD for more than 6 months, confirmed through a structured clinical interview, with symptoms rated as moderately severe or above on a standard OCD scale (confirm with trial site)
  • The child must have been taking a stable, maximum tolerated dose of a specific type of OCD medication (such as fluoxetine, sertraline, or similar) for at least 12 weeks, and still have ongoing moderate symptoms
  • Both the child and the participating parent must speak English
  • Both the child and the participating parent must live in Texas

Who may not be able to join:

  • The child has ever been diagnosed with bipolar disorder, a psychotic disorder, or an intellectual disability
  • The child is currently experiencing severe thoughts of suicide or harming others, or self-injury serious enough to need medical attention
  • The child is currently receiving any therapy specifically for OCD
  • The child started a psychiatric medication less than 4 weeks before enrolling, or started a stimulant or other psychoactive medication less than 2 weeks before enrolling
  • The child is currently taking or has been prescribed paroxetine (also known as Paxil) due to safety concerns
