Who might be able to join this trial:
- People aged between 18 and 80 years old
- People with a general health and activity level rated as reasonably functional (assessed using a standard medical scoring system called ECOG, scored 0–2)
- People diagnosed with a type of lung cancer called non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC), confirmed by a tissue or cell sample, at an early stage (Stage Ia to IIa) that has not spread to lymph nodes or other parts of the body
- People whose tumor is located at a safe distance from important structures such as the food pipe, main airways, spine, heart, major blood vessels, nerve clusters in the shoulder area, and stomach (at least 2cm away), and at least 1cm from the chest wall
- People who are not able to have surgery for medical reasons, or who have chosen not to have surgery
- People whose blood, lung, heart, liver, and kidney function all meet certain minimum levels as determined by test results (confirm specific values with trial site)
- People who are willing and able to give their signed agreement to participate in the trial
Who may not be able to join:
- People who have more than one primary tumor
- People who are unlikely to be able to follow the treatment plan as required
- People who have another cancer that is currently not under control
- People whose radiation treatment plan cannot meet the required dose targets or safety limits for surrounding healthy tissue (as assessed by the trial team)
- People who have previously had radiation therapy to the chest or had radioactive particles implanted in the chest
- People who have a cardiac pacemaker or other internal metal implants that could be affected by high-energy radiation or could interfere with treatment planning
- People who are pregnant (confirmed by a blood or urine test) or currently breastfeeding
- People who are HIV positive, people with an active hepatitis virus infection who need antiviral treatment but cannot receive it due to other health conditions, or people with active syphilis
- People with a history of mental illness that may make it difficult to complete the treatment
- People with serious other health conditions that could interfere with radiation therapy, including active infections, recent heart problems such as unstable chest pain or heart attack within the past 6 months, recent hospitalisation for breathing conditions, severely weakened immune function, conditions that cause extreme sensitivity to radiation, or other conditions that the trial team determines may interfere with treatment
- People whose overall circumstances the treating doctor considers unsuitable for participation in a clinical study
