Who might be able to join this trial:

• People who are able to give written consent to participate
• Adults aged 18 to 65 years, both male and female
• People who have never used SGLT2 inhibitor medications or insulin
• People with a BMI greater than 23 kg/m²
• People with an HbA1c (a blood sugar measure) between 6.5% and 10%
• People with a confirmed diagnosis of fatty liver disease shown on an ultrasound scan
• People with a diagnosis of Type 2 Diabetes

Who may not be able to join:

• People who have used SGLT2 inhibitor medications, GLP-1 medications, or insulin in the 3 months before enrolling
• People who have used a medication called pioglitazone in the past 6 months
• People who have taken high-dose vitamin E (400mg twice daily) in the 3 months before enrolling
• People who have used weight-loss medications or had weight-loss (bariatric) surgery in the 3 months before enrolling
• People with an uncontrolled hormone or gland disorder, such as uncontrolled thyroid disease or Cushing's syndrome
• People with a history of liver disease, including viral hepatitis, autoimmune hepatitis, liver cirrhosis, liver cancer, or HIV
• People with a history of recurring urinary tract infections or fungal infections
• People who are severely unwell, such as those with a high fever, blood infection, or active serious infection
• Women who are pregnant, breastfeeding, or planning to become pregnant during the study period
• People with a history of liver damage caused by certain medications (such as amiodarone, valproate, tamoxifen, methotrexate, or steroids, including some homeopathic medicines)
• People with a history of active use of substances such as heroin, cocaine, or amphetamines, based on personal history or lab tests
• People who have consumed alcohol at a level of roughly three drinks per day within the past year
• People who currently misuse substances including acetaminophen (paracetamol) in excess, cannabis-related products, tobacco, heroin, cocaine, or amphetamines
• People with severely reduced liver function, indicated by liver enzyme levels (AST and ALT) more than three times the normal upper limit
