Who might be able to join this trial:
For healthy participants (no migraines):
- You are between 10 and 13 years old
- You are male or female
- You have not been diagnosed with migraines and do not have migraine symptoms
- You either have a close family member (like a parent or sibling) diagnosed with migraine, OR you have no close or extended family members diagnosed with migraine
For participants with migraines:
- You are between 10 and 13 years old
- You are male or female
- You have been diagnosed with migraines or have migraine symptoms
- You have had migraines for more than 6 months
- You are either not taking any migraine prevention medication, or you have been on a stable migraine prevention treatment with no changes in the last 6 months
Who may not be able to join:
For the healthy group:
- You have been diagnosed with any ongoing (chronic) pain condition
- You have been diagnosed with a neurological, developmental, puberty-related, or mental health condition
- You regularly take pain or psychiatric medications
- You have anything in your body that would prevent an MRI scan (such as metal implants), or you experience severe anxiety in enclosed spaces (claustrophobia)
- You are not able to understand or communicate in English
For the migraine group:
- You have been diagnosed with any other ongoing (chronic) pain condition besides migraines
- You have been diagnosed with a neurological, developmental, puberty-related, or mental health condition
- You have anything in your body that would prevent an MRI scan (such as metal implants), or you experience severe anxiety in enclosed spaces (claustrophobia)
- You are not able to understand or communicate in English
