Who might be able to join this trial:
- You are currently receiving outpatient mental health care through the VA Maryland Health Care System (this includes general mental health clinics, recovery centers, intensive case management programs, or PTSD treatment teams)
- You have been diagnosed with PTSD, confirmed through a specific structured interview used by clinicians
- You have also been diagnosed with a serious mental illness, such as a psychotic disorder or bipolar disorder, as shown in your medical records
- You have regular access to a telephone
Who may not be able to join:
- You are currently struggling with moderate to severe substance use in a way that would affect your ability to take part in the study or that would mean you need a more intensive level of care
- You are currently taking part in a specific type of trauma-focused therapy for PTSD (such as Written Exposure Therapy, Cognitive Processing Therapy, Prolonged Exposure, or EMDR), or you completed one of these therapies within the past 6 months
