Who might be able to join this trial:
- People aged 18 to 80 years old
- People who have been diagnosed with squamous cell carcinoma (a type of cancer) that has been confirmed by a tissue biopsy and has spread to nearby lymph nodes, and who have not yet received any treatment for it
- People whose cancer is located in the mouth, throat, voice box (larynx), or lower throat (hypopharynx), or who have affected lymph nodes in the neck without a clearly identified primary tumour site, and whose cancer meets specific staging criteria that a doctor would assess — with a planned treatment involving a combination of chemotherapy and radiation therapy (confirm with trial site)
- People for whom tissue samples (taken before treatment begins) are available for testing
- People whose initial blood test shows detectable cancer DNA circulating in the blood
- People who have given their informed consent to take part
- People who are enrolled in the French social security system
Who may not be able to join:
- People whose cancer is located in the nasopharynx, sinuses, nasal cavity, salivary glands, or thyroid
- People who are planned to receive radiation therapy alone (without chemotherapy)
- People who have a medical reason preventing surgery on the lymph nodes in the neck
- People whose cancer has spread to distant parts of the body (stage IVc, or metastatic disease)
- People who have previously received treatment for head and neck cancer
- People who have had another type of cancer within the last 3 years (with some exceptions, such as certain very early-stage or low-risk cancers — confirm with trial site)
- People who are pregnant or breastfeeding
- People who are under legal guardianship or curatorship
- People with psychological, cognitive, social, or geographical circumstances that could make it difficult to attend follow-up appointments or complete treatment as required by the trial
