Who might be able to join this trial:

  • People who have signs and symptoms of heart failure
  • People whose heart is pumping at a rate greater than 50% of its normal capacity (known as an ejection fraction above 0.50)
  • People with measurable evidence that their heart muscle is not relaxing properly between beats (diastolic dysfunction), including those with elevated levels of a specific heart stress marker in their blood (NT-proBNP above 300 ng/dl) or who have previously been hospitalised due to heart failure

Who may not be able to join:

  • People under 55 years of age
  • People with a body mass index (a measure of body weight relative to height) above 50
  • People who have an irregular heart rhythm called atrial fibrillation where the heart rate is not well controlled
  • People who are currently taking a type of medication called PDE5 inhibitors (used for conditions such as erectile dysfunction or pulmonary hypertension)
  • People with serious problems affecting the valves in their heart
  • People with a severe form of a long-term lung condition called chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD)
  • People with significantly reduced kidney function, classified as chronic kidney disease stage 4 or worse
  • People who have any condition that limits their ability to walk or move around freely
