Who might be able to join this trial:
- People aged between 18 and 60 years old
- People diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia (AML), except for a specific subtype called AML-M3
- People whose AML is considered refractory (hard to treat), meaning: standard chemotherapy did not achieve full remission after 2 rounds of treatment; or the disease came back within 6 months of first achieving remission; or the disease came back after 6 months and further chemotherapy did not work; or the disease has come back 2 or more times; or leukemia is still present outside the bone marrow
- People whose AML has relapsed (come back) after full remission, shown by leukemia cells reappearing in the blood or bone marrow, or leukemia returning outside the bone marrow
- People whose bone marrow tests show either active or reduced cell production
- People with a physical functioning score of 0–2 on a standard scale used by doctors to assess general health and ability to carry out daily activities (confirm with trial site)
Who may not be able to join:
- People who have bleeding in the brain
- People who are pregnant
- People with a mental illness or other condition that would prevent them from following the trial plan
- People with serious heart rhythm problems or an abnormal heart electrical reading (specifically a QT measurement over 500ms on an ECG)
