Who might be able to join this trial:
- People with osteoarthritis who are having joint replacement, bone realignment, or joint fusion surgery on any joint, including the hip, knee, shoulder, wrist, elbow, or ankle.
- People with a broken hip bone who are having a partial or full hip replacement, or another type of surgery to fix the break internally.
- People having surgery to repair a sudden, low-force fracture or a fragility fracture (the type of break that can happen from a minor fall or everyday activity, often linked to weaker bones).
- People aged between 18 and 110 years old who are able to understand and agree to take part in the study. There is no upper age limit for this trial, but suitability for surgery is assessed individually, taking into account factors such as age, overall health, frailty, kidney function, and ability to give consent.
Who may not be able to join:
- People who are not able to give informed consent to take part.
- People who have a known or suspected cancer (malignancy).
- People who have a known or suspected bone infection (osteomyelitis).
