  • People who have serious liver disease, such as cirrhosis, or signs of recent liver damage shown by abnormal blood test results
  • People who have an active cancer or have been treated for cancer that has not fully cleared, or who have HIV infection
  • Women who are pregnant, breastfeeding, or of childbearing age and who do not agree to use effective contraception during the trial
  • People with a history of alcohol or illegal drug abuse
  • People whose peritoneal dialysis has stopped working due to a condition called ultrafiltration failure
  • People who have an intellectual disability or a mental illness
  • People who currently use a specific type of dialysis fluid called icodextrin
  • People who have taken part in another clinical trial in the past 3 months
  • People who have had a peritoneal infection (peritonitis) in the past 3 months
  • People excluded for other reasons as determined by the trial investigators
