Who might be able to join this trial:

• People who have been diagnosed with non-small cell lung cancer, confirmed through a tissue or cell sample test
• People who have been newly diagnosed with a small number of brain metastases (cancer that has spread to the brain) — specifically fewer than 5 spots in the brain, confirmed by MRI, with no brain treatment given yet, at least one spot measuring 5mm or larger, and all spots at least 3mm away from the optic nerve and brainstem
• People whose cancer has a specific gene change called an EGFR mutation (exon 19 deletion or exon 21 L858R)
• People who have not previously been treated with any EGFR-targeting drugs or similar targeted therapy medicines
• People aged between 18 and 75 years old

Who may not be able to join:

• People who have had, or currently have, another type of cancer elsewhere in the body (with the exception of certain easily treated skin cancers or early-stage cervical changes)
• People who have already received radiation treatment to the brain before entering the trial
• People whose lung cancer has not spread to other parts of the body and whose lung tumour has been assessed as removable by surgery
• People who have previously received EGFR-blocking treatments or any other systemic (whole-body) anti-cancer therapy
• People who have a history of lung scarring or inflammation conditions, including interstitial lung disease, drug-related lung damage, radiation-related lung damage requiring steroid treatment, or signs of active lung scarring seen on a CT scan
• People who are pregnant or breastfeeding
• People for whom an MRI scan is not safe or suitable
• People who are unable to swallow tablets, require nutrition through a drip, have had surgery that affects how the gut absorbs medicines, or have an active stomach or bowel ulcer
• People who, in the opinion of the research team, cannot safely receive brain radiation due to other conditions affecting the head or face
• People with unstable or poorly controlled health conditions, such as active infection, high blood pressure that is difficult to control, unstable chest pain, heart failure, or significant liver, kidney, or metabolic disease
