Who might be able to join this trial:
- You are a veteran between the ages of 18 and 75
- You have been diagnosed with Insomnia Disorder based on standard medical guidelines (DSM-5)
- You have been diagnosed with PTSD based on standard medical guidelines (DSM-5)
- If you are taking any medications for sleep, PTSD, or mental health, you have been on a stable dose for at least one month and are willing to keep them unchanged during the active part of the study
- If you are currently in any type of talk therapy, you have been attending for at least one month and do not plan to stop during the trial; if you plan to start a new therapy, you would need to wait one month before joining
- If you are currently in — or planning to start — a specific therapy that directly targets insomnia or PTSD (such as CBT for Insomnia, Cognitive Processing Therapy, or Prolonged Exposure Therapy), you would need to finish that treatment and wait one month before being screened for this trial
- Veterans with a traumatic brain injury (TBI) are not automatically excluded
- Veterans with chronic pain are not automatically excluded
- Veterans with treated or untreated sleep apnea, or those considered high-risk for sleep apnea, are not automatically excluded
Who may not be able to join:
- You have a history of psychotic disorder or manic episodes at any point in your life
- You have a moderate to severe alcohol or drug use disorder
- You have shown recent harmful behavior toward others, or you have recent suicidal behavior, a recent psychiatric hospitalization, or strong suicidal thoughts with a plan or intention to act
- You are currently pregnant
- You work night shifts or rotating shifts
- You do not have stable housing
- You have an untreated medical condition known to affect sleep, such as restless legs syndrome
- You have a seizure disorder that is not well controlled by treatment
- You are unable to participate in video calls or complete surveys online
