Who might be able to join this trial:
- People of any gender who are 55 years of age or older and have been diagnosed with osteopenia (a condition where bone density is lower than normal but not low enough to be called osteoporosis, defined by a T-score below 0.0 but higher than -2.5 on a bone density scan)
Who may not be able to join:
- People who have an eating disorder
- People who have a known digestive or gastrointestinal condition
- People whose liver or kidneys are not functioning normally
- People who have Type 1 diabetes
- People who have Type 2 diabetes that is not well controlled
- People who have been diagnosed with cancer
- People who have taken steroid medications (such as cortisone or prednisone) or other immune-suppressing medications within the last 3 weeks before the trial starts
- People who are currently receiving treatment to slow bone loss or to build bone (confirm with trial site for specific medication types)
- People who have taken part in another clinical drug trial within the last 6 weeks before this trial starts
- People who have a known allergy to milk products
- People who are not able to understand the information provided about the trial
- People who are unwilling or unable to provide written consent to participate
