Who might be able to join this trial:
- You are 16 years old or older
- You have a current diagnosis of anorexia nervosa (confirmed using standard DSM-5 criteria)
- You are willing and able to take part and follow the study's requirements
- You have worked or studied in a setting where you needed to speak English to some degree (this is needed to make sure the memory and thinking tests are valid)
- You are currently being looked after by your own psychiatrist
Who may not be able to join:
- You are not able to give informed consent to take part in the study
- You have a medical reason why you cannot receive tDCS or rTMS (types of non-invasive brain stimulation treatments) (confirm with trial site)
- You have already tried a full course of rTMS (at least 4 weeks) during your current illness and it did not help
- You have had ECT (electroconvulsive therapy, a type of brain treatment) in the last 3 months
- You scored below 26 on a standard memory and thinking assessment called the MoCA (confirm with trial site)
- You are considered by the study psychiatrist to be at significant risk of seriously harming yourself or suicide
- You are currently taking part in another clinical trial or using an experimental medical device or product
