Who might be able to join this trial:
- People aged 18 or older
- People who have been diagnosed with PTSD according to standard diagnostic criteria (DSM-5), confirmed through a structured diagnostic interview
- People who are interested in starting a therapy called Prolonged Exposure (PE)
Who may not be able to join:
- People with a current or past diagnosis of schizophrenia or another psychotic disorder
- People with untreated Bipolar Disorder, or who have had a manic or mixed mood episode in the last 6 months
- People with a severe traumatic brain injury
- People with serious neurological conditions
- People currently experiencing a moderate or severe substance use disorder, as assessed through a structured diagnostic interview
- People who currently pose an active risk of harm to themselves or others
- People currently receiving any form of therapy other than a specific type called present-centred supportive therapy
- People who have already received more than 2 sessions of Prolonged Exposure therapy in the past
- People who have no memory of their traumatic event
- People on psychiatric medication may not be eligible unless their medication dose has been stable for at least 2 months before joining and stays stable throughout the trial (confirm with trial site)
