Who might be able to join this trial:
- Children with Prader-Willi syndrome (before their teenage years) who have been confirmed to have the condition through genetic testing
- Children who meet the medical definition of obesity
- Children who are not currently taking part in, and have not taken part in, any other research study in the past three months
- Children whose parents agree to participate and have signed a consent form on their behalf
Who may not be able to join:
- Children who are already using weight loss methods outside of this trial, such as taking weight loss medications or any medicines known to cause changes in body weight
- Children who have taken antibiotics for 3 or more days within the month before the study begins
- Children who have taken probiotic supplements for 3 or more days within the month before the study begins
- Children with significant liver or kidney problems, as shown by certain blood test results being more than twice the upper limit of the hospital's normal range (confirm with trial site)
- Children with digestive conditions that affect how their body absorbs food — for example, severe ongoing diarrhoea, severe constipation, serious gut inflammation, active stomach ulcers, or acute gallbladder inflammation
- Children who have had surgery within the year before the study starts, not including appendix or hernia operations
- Children who have Hepatitis B, active tuberculosis, HIV/AIDS, or other infectious diseases
- Children who have a mental health condition and are currently taking psychiatric medications such as antidepressants
