Who might be able to join this trial:
- People who have been diagnosed with acute myeloid leukaemia (a type of blood cancer).
- People who are receiving intensive chemotherapy treatment that causes a significant drop in infection-fighting white blood cells (below 500 per cubic millimetre) lasting more than 7 days.
- People who have had a specific type of intravenous line called a PICC line inserted within the last 24 hours, or who need one inserted as part of their current hospital stay, under proper sterile conditions.
- People who are staying in a specially protected hospital room designed to reduce infection risk (such as a laminar airflow room or a Plasmair® unit).
- People who have given their free and fully informed agreement to take part in the trial.
- People who are covered by a health insurance plan.
- People who are 18 years of age or older.
Who may not be able to join:
- People who had their PICC line inserted during a previous hospital stay rather than the current one.
- People who are currently enrolled in another clinical study that restricts participation in additional studies.
- People who are under a court-ordered protection measure, guardianship, or supervised legal protection.
- People who are unable to give their own consent to participate.
- People for whom it is not possible to provide the necessary information to make an informed decision about joining.
