Who might be able to join this trial:
- Your tumor is 2 cm (about 3/4 of an inch) or smaller
- You have a single tumor located in the outer part of the lung
- Scans before surgery showed either one nodule, or any additional nodules were at an early, less aggressive stage
- During surgery, a tissue sample confirmed a specific type of lung cancer (invasive adenocarcinoma) with certain growth patterns present in more than 5% of the sample
- Surgery confirmed that the entire tumor was fully removed with clear edges (no cancer cells left behind)
- Your lung function is strong enough to safely handle either type of surgery being studied (confirm with trial site)
- Your other organs (such as liver and kidneys) are functioning well enough
- You are reasonably active and able to care for yourself day-to-day (a score of 0, 1, or 2 on a standard activity scale)
- You are willing and able to sign a consent form agreeing to take part
Who may not be able to join:
- Your tumor is positioned too close to the central part of the lung, making one of the surgical options not possible
- Tests before surgery suggested cancer may have spread to your lymph nodes
- There is evidence that the cancer has spread to nearby tissues or other parts of the body
- During surgery, cancer cells were found to have spread to the lining around the lung
- You have serious problems with your heart, liver, or kidney function (confirm with trial site)
- You have or have had another type of cancer at the same time
- You have previously received chemotherapy, radiation therapy, or targeted drug therapy for this cancer
- You have had a serious heart condition or heart attack within the past 6 months
- The research team has determined for other reasons that you are not a suitable candidate (confirm with trial site)
