Who might be able to join this trial:
- Adults who are obese and are between 20 and 45 years of age (both men and women)
Who may not be able to join:
- People who have diabetes or a fasting blood sugar level above 126 mg/dL
- People with low red blood cell levels (anaemia) — specifically, women with a haemoglobin level below 11 g/dL or men below 12 g/dL
- People with active heart disease or who have had a heart attack, stroke, unstable chest pain, or a procedure to open blocked arteries within the past 3 months
- People with significant kidney problems, indicated by a blood creatinine level above 1.5 mg/dL
- People with active liver disease, based on certain liver enzyme levels being well above the normal range (confirm with trial site)
- People taking blood-thinning medications such as warfarin, or who have a history of blood clotting disorders

- People who are pregnant or breastfeeding
- People who drink more than 2 alcoholic drinks per day, or who have other substance use concerns
- People with an underactive thyroid (hypothyroidism) that is not being treated or is not well controlled
- People with a serious ongoing illness that significantly affects daily functioning, as determined by the trial investigators
