Who might be able to join this trial:
- People who are U.S. Veterans.
- People who either have never had COVID-19, had COVID-19 more than 90 days ago (with no lasting symptoms), or have a confirmed COVID-19 diagnosis with at least one symptom that has lasted longer than 4 weeks — depending on which group of the study applies to them (confirm with trial site).
- People whose Body Mass Index (BMI) falls within either a lean range (19–25) or an obese range (30–50).
Who may not be able to join:
- People with a neurological condition, a muscle or joint condition, or any other condition that would prevent them from completing physical tests as part of the study.
- People with certain active health conditions, including inflammation-related illness, active COVID-19, autoimmune disease, infection, liver problems, reduced kidney function, digestive disease, cancer, or a psychiatric condition.
- People with poorly controlled diabetes, specifically those with an HbA1c (a blood sugar measure) above 10%, or those currently using insulin.
- People whose weight has changed by more than 5 kilograms in the past month.
- People who self-report current alcohol or drug misuse.
- People who are currently taking blood-thinning (anticoagulant) medications.
