Who might be able to join this trial:
- You are able to understand and agree to take part in the study on your own
- You are willing to follow all study procedures and can be available for the full length of the study
- You are 18 years of age or older
- You identify as LatinX
- You have a thyroid nodule (a lump in the thyroid gland) that is non-cancerous and is causing symptoms
- Your thyroid nodule has a clear, well-defined border on ultrasound and is surrounded by at least 2mm of normal thyroid tissue on all sides
Who may not be able to join:
- You are pregnant, trying to become pregnant, or currently breastfeeding
- You have a cardiac pacemaker, defibrillator, or any other electronic medical device implanted in your body
- Your thyroid nodule is cancerous, or is not made up of mostly solid tissue (it must be more than 50% solid based on ultrasound results)
- You are not able to give consent to take part in the study
- You are currently taking blood-thinning medications or a combination of two antiplatelet medications (confirm with trial site)
- You are currently experiencing an acute (sudden or active) illness
- Your blood pressure reading is above 140/90 before the scheduled procedure
