Who might be able to join this trial:
For all participants:
- Adults (male or female)
- People who are able to give their consent to take part in research
- People who are enrolled in a French Social Security health plan
For the finger osteoarthritis group:
- People who are seen as outpatients in the Rheumatology department at Clermont-Ferrand University Hospital
- People diagnosed with finger joint osteoarthritis that meets recognised diagnostic standards, with X-ray findings confirmed by a radiologist
For the control (comparison) group:
- People who attend the Rheumatology department at Clermont-Ferrand University Hospital as outpatients, or who are admitted to that department for a condition that is not related to joint inflammation or rheumatic disease
- People whose condition involves spinal disc problems (such as lower back pain or nerve pain from a disc) or mild-to-moderate osteoporosis, defined by a specific bone density score between -2.5 and -3 (confirm with trial site)
Who may not be able to join:
For all participants:
- People who do not wish to take part
- Women who are pregnant or breastfeeding
- People who are under legal guardianship, have restricted legal capacity, are detained, or are under court-ordered protection
For the finger osteoarthritis group:
- People who show signs of another inflammatory joint condition, such as rheumatoid arthritis, gout, lupus, or similar conditions
- People who have osteoarthritis affecting other joints (such as the knee, hip, or spine) that is causing symptoms or affecting daily life at the time of joining the trial
For the control (comparison) group:
- People who have a chronic inflammatory joint or rheumatic condition (such as rheumatoid arthritis, gout, lupus, or similar)
- People who have finger joint osteoarthritis
- People who have pain in another joint area, such as the knee, hip, or spine
- People who have pain in their fingers, regardless of the cause
